Microsoft and NVIDIA Partner to Accelerate Generative AI Across Industries

Microsoft and NVIDIA have announced a groundbreaking partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of generative AI across various industries. By integrating NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI technologies with Microsoft Azure, this collaboration promises to enhance capabilities in healthcare, industrial digitalization, and beyond.

Microsoft and NVIDIA are expanding their collaboration to bring generative AI applications to the forefront of multiple industries. This partnership leverages the power of NVIDIA’s advanced AI technologies and Microsoft Azure’s robust cloud infrastructure to deliver transformative solutions.

One of the key developments is the general availability of Microsoft’s Azure NC H100 v5 VM, based on the NVIDIA H100 NVL platform. This new virtual machine is designed for midrange AI training and inferencing, offering customers the flexibility and scalability needed for diverse AI workloads. The NC series of VMs supports NVIDIA Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) technology, enabling partitioning of each GPU into up to seven instances.

Industry leaders such as Sanofi, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and Mass General Brigham are already leveraging these technologies to drive transformative changes and improve patient care.

 

The industrial digitalization aspect of this partnership will see NVIDIA’s Omniverse Cloud APIs available on Microsoft Azure. This integration allows developers to enhance data interoperability, collaboration, and physics-based visualization in software applications. For example, factory operators can use an interactive 3D viewer in Microsoft Power BI to overlay real-time factory data on a digital twin of their facility, gaining insights that can speed up production.

 

NVIDIA GPUs and the NVIDIA Triton Inference Server are also integral to Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365. This integration enhances AI inference predictions, enabling users to benefit from real-time contextualized intelligence. Microsoft Copilot, which will soon be available as a dedicated key on Windows 11 PCs, combines large language models with proprietary enterprise data to boost creativity, productivity, and skills.

 

To further support AI deployments, NVIDIA’s NIM (NVIDIA Inference Microservices) will be incorporated into Azure AI. These cloud-native microservices, part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, offer optimized inference on popular foundation models. This collaboration aims to accelerate the time-to-market for performance-optimized AI applications.
